I take this picture to make some comments.
I'm not doing a historical image. But Steampunk, originally part of the Victorian aesthetic of 1800.
I thought a good idea to approach the original essence of steampunk.
Not so the modern image of steampunk, with the developments that have taken today. I do not intend to put a hat and a pair of welder, any design.
I'm gonna catch me a bit more seriously.
I think Herbert's novel, is closer to a historic event.
My image, it will be closer to the idea of the movie by David Lynch.
In my humble opinion, the David Lynch film, it was visionary, as the aesthetic of steampunk, is concerned. I think that certainly has marked a clear reference, the evolution of his type of SCIFI. Sure, it's only my opinion.

This is a test, the costumes by Jessica Atreides.

The costumes, created it, through dynamic simulation of cloth.
I started with my tests on the simulation of fabrics, with the image: "Arabian Night's."
Unfortunately, the computer played a trick on me (one more) and hard disk I'm gone. I lost a lot of information, among which were, my tests, dynamic fabric.
Taking this picture, I spent several days getting to experiment with fabrics. (And I have yet, this is not easy) I think I am more than satisfied with the results.

On the other hand, also I have some initial testing, modeling, with clear references to GAUDI. (Born in mid-1800) and undoubtedly, has many elements, which fit perfectly with the house Atreides.

Finally, I have to say that I face, the picture more complex and elaborate, all I've done to my gallery. I'll take much more, on other occasions, putting the final image, so I hope, meanwhile, will be enjoying the pictures of the process.

Only for my Watchers ...

Simply use the Cloth modifier, which comes with 3dmax.
I think the result is good, but be careful with the scale on the scene .. :)
